Performance Tests

What are the most common tests used to monitor performance and "readiness"?

Squats Analysis

Improvements in barbell back squatting have been correlated with athletic movements requiring explosive power, like sprinting.

Counter Movement Jump (CMJ)

CMJ assess the ability to redirect the body center of mass (COM) vertically after an initial decent. Kinetic measurements like peak force, power, and rate of force development are calculated.

Squat Jump (SJ)

The squat jump (SJ) is a complimentary assessment tool to the CMJ for lower body power starting from a semi-squat position.

Drop Jump (DJ)

DJ assess the ability to redirect the body center of mass upwards after jumping from an elevated surface, providing a reliable measure known as the 'Reactive Strength Index' (RSI).

Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull

IMTP is a strength based test used to assess lower body maximal force output and rate of force development (RFD), and it has been shown to have a high correlation with athletic movements like jumping and sprinting. This can be used as both a diagnostic or training tool.
