What is PIT?

PIT is a new facility in the Pittsburgh area that provides performance evaluations for young athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike. PIT uses research grade force plates, VBT devices, dynamometers, IMUs, and reactive agility timing gates to provide a complete picture of your athletic and physical capabilities.

This is the data you can't get from a fitness tracker!

What do we offer?...

...Performance evaluation and tracking

Performance evaluation: PIT utilizes high-end research-grade equipment to evaluate sports performance metrics like force, velocity, power, rate of force development, and others.

Tracking performance outcomes: PIT offers packages to track these measurements across training cycles, so you can make data-driven decisions about training plan modifications.

...Small group  training

PIT's small group training applies the  most up-to-date research on skill acquisition and motor control, focusing on strength, coordination, and movement efficiency.

School outreach, health fair

Local gyms, trainers, high school and club teams, we'll come to you!

The first in the Pittsburgh area, PIT boasts a fully mobile performance lab with research grade force plates. If you are a trainer, gym owner, high school or club team in the area and want objective data for your clients or athletes contact us to learn more.

Linear Position Transducer

LPTs use a tether to measure barbell velocity. This can be a helpful indicator of fatigue setting in during a workout due to velocity loss, but can also assess readiness day-to-day.

Force Plates

Force plates measure ground reaction force (GRF), which objective measurements of force/power output during athletic movements, like jumping. They can also help assess maximal strength and neuromuscular fatigue.

Force plates

Reactive Agility Timing Gates

Can be configured to measure top end speed, velocity, and force production during a 40 yard dash, or custom set-ups can be used to measure lateral movement and change of direction.

Agility testing

Digital Goniometer

Digital goniometers provide a more accurate and reliable measure of  joint range of motion compared to handheld goniometers.

Surface EMG

sEMG measures electrical current produced during muscle contraction. It is used to assess muscular coordination and imbalances between limbs. Combining sEMG with force dynamometers allows us to observe the relationship between force production and muscle activation.

Force Dynamometer

Force dynamometers uses strain gauges to measure the amount of force your muscles can produce. These are particularly useful for tracking development of smaller muscle groups, like the rotator cuff.

Why should you Integrate force plate testing into your training?

Objective Data

GRF recorded from force pates provides real-time feedback about force and power production, giving you insights into neuromuscular fatigue, so you can make objective data-driven decisions about your training plan.
